Where is Vhutshilo?
The school, skills development centre, vegetable garden, nursery, kiosk, administration department and facilities for volunteers are situated at Tsikombani in the Nzhelele Valley, about 80 kilometres from Louis Trichardt and Thohoyandou, the nearest towns.
The school has two classrooms, a kitchen, washing and toilet facilities and an outside playground. There are plans in place to build a 3rd classroom.
The Skills Development Centre is currently making use of one of the volunteer rooms, but we are currently building a wooden structure, donated by a local contractor, to accommodate the Skills Development Centre and a new classroom.
There is a ‘model’ vegetable garden and vegetable nursery at the school grounds. The vegetable nursery provides the seedlings for the vegetable garden in the villages.
A kiosk at the entrance to the school accommodates a small clothing shop that sells second-hand clothing. There is also an office for the Director, Administration, and Bookkeeping staff. The school is also the base for the Outreach programmes and used for meetings and trainings.
If you find yourself in Limpopo, email us ahead of time with the details of your visit and we would be more than happy to show you around and explain about the projects we are doing.
